Why We Built Maaliya
Most accounting software was built to record the past.
Businesses create invoices, pay suppliers, receive bank transactions, collect receipts, and then spend hours entering everything into an accounting system. The software stores the records, but the work of getting information there is still largely manual.
That approach no longer makes sense.
Today's businesses receive documents through email, WhatsApp, cloud storage, messaging apps, and mobile phones. Finance teams jump between multiple tools just to complete routine tasks that should happen automatically.
We kept asking ourselves one question:
Why is finance software still waiting for people to do the work first?
That's the question that led to Maaliya.
Instead of building another bookkeeping application, we set out to build an AI-native finance operations platform.
One that understands financial documents, extracts information automatically, matches transactions, supports VAT compliance, organizes supporting documents, and works alongside the accounting software businesses already use.
Our goal isn't to replace finance professionals.
It's to remove the repetitive work that slows them down.
When routine tasks become automated, finance teams have more time to focus on analysis, planning, and helping businesses make better decisions.
We're starting with the everyday challenges businesses face across the GCC, from bookkeeping and reconciliation to invoicing and compliance. As the platform grows, so will its ability to automate more of the finance function.
